Special Needs Adult Day Program

The purpose of AZ Simply Me is to ensure adults with special needs have a safe place to learn life skills, engage in social activities and build community. We are intentional in our amiable approach for all to experience a grace filled community. ASM is committed to excellence when serving our members; involve all members in conversation, activities, lessons and games to provide inclusion, discover unique abilities and to create an enjoyable environment where everyone is simply free to be themselves.

Meet Amy Daniels

I love my friends with special needs.Thankfully I have many sweet friends and close to several families. I have learned from all of them by observing, listening and working as a provider. Since 1993 I have worked with students of all ages, abilities and socioeconomic status in churches, schools and in the community. The beginning of 2016 I was overpowered with a feeling to start a day program for adults with special needs. For the next year and a half I researched and applied with DDD to become a qualified vendor. Why the name?  I wanted something that was honest, yetnot ordinary. Simply Me is just who we are as a community that doesn't want much more than to simply to be ourselves. My journey began 1993. God intervened and changed my life. I started volunteering in the youth group of my church, and with Young Life. Before this I was a flight attendant for American Airlines in Dallas, TX. Eventually I went to college. While taking classes I worked in a Montessori school as an assistant as well as being the extended day teacher, and I was a nanny for two different families. Six years later I had a degree in Child/Human Development and Family Studies from University of North Texas. I became certified in special education. After years of working in both private and public schools, I was hired by a large church in Scottsdale in their special needs ministry. I then became the director which was the highlight of my life for six years. I was coaching, creating, heading events, leading camps, training volunteers, ministering to families, and of course teaching, caring for and entertaining friends of all ages with special needs. After this I slowed down my schedule to just providing respite and habilitation for children and adults with special needs. AZ Simply Me opened in August 2017 and my main goal is serving with integrity; reminding the members how special they are and how much God loves us.
