“Welcome to Handmaker” has greeted thousands of people and their families for nearly 50 years. Treating everyone who walks through our doors as a special part of the family, showing utmost respect, dignity, and caring is the aim of everyone on staff. Please explore the programs and residences we have to offer.

Tucson’s only comprehensive day program for all adults, including special programs for memory-impaired and developmentally disabled adults; our daytime activities provide alternatives, options and rest to families trying to manage care at home.

Our Adult Day Programs allow your family member to maintain their independence while creating new and wonderful relationships, all in a caring and comfortable atmosphere. Activities, like arts and crafts, games, exercises, and live entertainment, are offered throughout the day. Outings to local places of attraction are also offered. Special programs are designed for memory impaired adults and for developmentally disabled adults. Nursing services are always available for prescribed treatments, medications and monthly vital signs and weight checks. Handmaker chefs prepare healthy and delicious lunch daily with morning and afternoon snacks included.

The Adventure Bus is an innovative program for people experiencing the early stages of diminished memory capacity. It is a unique opportunity for stimulation, education, recreation, and fun among peers. Weekly social and cultural indoor programs and day trips are offered to various events and destinations in Tucson and the surrounding areas. The program includes docent guided tours of exhibits and museums, creative self-expression activities, a healthy and delicious lunch, conversation and socialization throughout the day, and supervision by a trained leader and volunteers. The program provides a needed respite for caregivers.
