AFH’s mission is to attract eligible adults, teach them the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education.
At AFH, our goal is to provide progressive daytime programming opportunities to the individuals we serve. It is our objective to challenge and stimulate each individual to accomplish the highest level of independence possible. We offer extensive training in a structured setting and are active in the community. The Day Treatment for Adults Programs are curriculum based and focus on areas of communication, self care, community awareness, social development, community access, household chores, and money management.

Social Beginnings Program

The Social Beginnings Program presents a diverse and innovative approach to teaching daily living skills with a "hands on" approach. The focused skill training areas in this classroom include working cooperatively with peers, self-expression through arts and crafts, the use of manipulative and tactile exercises, and personal hygiene.

Pre-Vocational Program

The Pre-Vocational Program affords the opportunity for individuals to learn job training through volunteer services in the community. Some of these programs include U-MOM, Salvation Army, Desert Haven Nursing Facility, St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Mary's Food Bank, and St. Vincent de Paul. Pre-vocational activities prepare individuals for future placement in a vocational program. Many individuals have graduated from the DTA Pre-Vocational Program and are now employed and earning wages.

Seniors Program

AFH also offers a seniors program for elderly adults who are ready to retire. Seniors enjoy participating in activities of their own choice, including spending time with seniors in other programs playing bingo, doing crafts or just visiting. The emphasis of the program is mental stimulation, comfort, good health and fun. - See more at: http://providersearch.com/arizona-foundation-for-the-handicapped--perry-center-364118.html#sthash.J3HY6H8C.dpuf
